After leaving school Chris started work in a family owned supermarket chain, but decided that a formal business qualification was needed to gain business experience, and started training to be a Chartered Accountant, initially with a firm in Exeter and then in Newton Abbot.
He then went to London and worked for a 14 partner City firm for four years before deciding to spend two years in the Caribbean working for one of the big international firms.
Some of this time was spent sorting out major accounting problems in some of the smaller islands.
