TDS Bookkeeping was set up in South Norfolk, with the specific goal of providing a personal and cost-effective means for small businesses (sole-traders, partnerships and limited companies) to manage all their bookkeeping requirements.
TDS Bookkeeping was founded in 2011 by my self, whom is a Fellow of the Institute for Certified Bookkeepers (ICB).
As a Fellow of the ICB I have the support of the largest bookkeeping institute in the world, and am bound by the professional conduct regulations that they have set out for all their members.

It is extremely difficult to run a successful business if you do not keep good financial records.
On top of this HMRC require all businesses to keep their records for at least 6 years, and be able to produce them if HMRC were to do an inspection.
Good records will help you file your tax records with HMRC on time and accurately.
Don't leave your business in the position where you are rushing your tax returns, ending up paying too much tax or even worse paying too little.
TDS Bookkeeping can help you maintain all the records HMRC and you require, as well as helping to file you tax returns.

It was also announced that next year the personal allowance will rise again by 1,100 to 9,205 which is ahead of the coalitions promise to raise the standard allowance to 10,000 by the end of this parliament.
The age allowances are also set to rice to 10,500 and 10,666 for over 65 and 75 years respectively.
This is the last time that these will raise, as they have been frozen until they catch up with standard personal allowance, at which time the age related allowances will be scrapped.
To compensate for the raise of the personal allowance the government has decreased the threshold at which the higher rate of tax, of 40%, need paying to 34,370.

If you are thinking about starting a new business then your first port of call should be the "You, Self-Employment and HMRC" pre-recorded webinar from HMRC, which can be found here (this will open a new window).
The webinar will outline your relationship and responsibilities to HMRC.
From a bookkeeping prospective one of the things that many new businesses forget is to always ask for a receipt.
If you don't have a receipt then it will be very difficult if not impossible to claim it as a valid expense.
