Oxford Accountant Andy Walton's accountancy practice was established to provide sole traders and limited companies in the Oxford area with year end accounts and tax, management accounts, business planning, accountancy, budgeting, self assessment, VAT help, payroll, accounting software implementations as well as offering a unique part-time financial controller service.

Andy set up the firm in 2005 to provide an alternative to expensive high street accountants. The firm doesn't employ a receptionist or rent flashy offices to impress its clients - we prefer our people & services to do the impressing! To keep client fees fiercely competitive, staff work from home using the latest technology and we pride ourselves in keeping paper to a minimum.

We prefer to avoid any pretence in our relationships with clients and we find that informal meetings such as sitting around our garden table over a coffee are a great way to get started. Evening appointments are great too. Most clients use Xero, Quickbooks Online or a free customised excel cashbook that I have created which is stored on Dropbox.
Services
Current clients are from wide variety of backgrounds - Publishers, a film director, podcasters, an author, microbrewery, physiotherapists, chiropractors, rocket scientists, climate change consulatants, health economists, online retailers, consultants, architects, psychotherapists, translators, freelance lecturers, vets, graphic designers, photographers, landscape gardeners, software maintenance, IT contractors, astronomers and those with rental properties.
Provided that your accounting records are well maintained and require minimal adjustment then we are able to offer the very simple fixed fee structure below.
Management accounts are not a legal requirement but are vital for a company's management to track performance, and may indeed be required by banks and investors.
The importance of evaluating the performance of any business before the year-end can be crucial.
Clients are encouraged to monitor their performance and I help them by preparing monthly or quarterly management accounts, which they find invaluable.
We tailor management accounts to your requirements in terms of wording, layout, charts and key metrics tracked.
Many small businesses are not able to afford a full-time financial controller or financial director and there is not enough work to keep a full time person busy.
Clients typically have turnovers from approximately 300k to 5M.
Small businesses usually have their own bookkeeper to manage the basic finances but find that this is not enough.
Can you afford a Part-time Financial Controller?
A full time financial controller would cost an employer between 600 and 700 per day which would include salary, car, employer's NI, pension, holiday, bank holidays, sickness, IT costs, training, rent, telephone etc.
When we transferred our year end accounts to Andy Walton, we were impressed by the high level of personalised service that he offered.
He took a lot of time to meet us and to understand the ins and outs of our business.
His advice is always clear and accurate and his accounts are always produced well ahead of deadlines.
As he has fewer overheads than a high-street accountant, he is able to charge less for what is, we think, a much better service.
Andy provided Holiday Lettings with an essential part-time financial controller service over a period of considerable growth in the early years of the business, helping the company manage its evolution from a small business to a market leading property portal.
